False Activation (Activation giving false notice of an oncoming train) |
False activations create a deceptive sense of safety and lowers or eliminates the drivers' expectations for an oncoming train when equipment is not working properly. Motorists become conditioned to ignore equipment when they give false notice of an oncoming train. Example: Gates down. . .no train; Gates going up and down
